What to do while you're on your way in

Knocked-out tooth

Pick it up by the crown, not the root. Try reinserting it into the socket. If that is not possible, store it in milk or your own saliva and get to the clinic as fast as you can. Time matters here.

Severe or sudden tooth pain

Rinse with warm water and take an over-the-counter pain reliever if needed while you call. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum or tooth.

Chipped or broken tooth

Save any broken piece if you can find it, rinse your mouth with warm water, and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling on your way in.

Lost filling or crown

Keep the piece if you still have it. Avoid chewing on that side until you are seen, since the exposed tooth can be sensitive.

Facial or jaw swelling, or an abscess

This can signal a more serious infection. Call right away rather than waiting to see if it improves on its own.

Emergency Hours

Call first, whenever possible

The team can give you specific guidance for your situation and prepare for you before you arrive.

Emergency questions

No response time is guaranteed, but Sauga Smiles Dental works to see emergency patients the same day whenever possible, helped by being open seven days a week. Call 905-277-1560 the moment the problem starts.

Yes. The clinic is open Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM, so a weekend emergency does not have to wait until Monday.

Handle it by the crown, not the root. Try gently reinserting it into the socket. If that is not possible, keep it in milk or your own saliva, never dry or in water, and get to Sauga Smiles Dental as quickly as possible.

Calling 905-277-1560 first is strongly recommended so the team can prepare for you and give you guidance for the drive over, but walk-ins are also accommodated when possible.
