Am I a candidate for dental crowns & bridges?
Patients with a tooth too damaged by decay, cracking, or a large old filling to support another filling, but not so damaged it needs extraction, are candidates for a crown. Patients missing one or more teeth with healthy teeth on either side of the gap are candidates for a bridge, provided those anchor teeth can support the additional load.

The damaged tooth (or the teeth on either side of a gap, for a bridge) is shaped, and impressions are taken to fabricate a custom piece.
Temporary placement
A temporary crown or bridge protects the prepared teeth while the final restoration is made.
Fit check
When the final piece is ready, it is checked for fit, bite, and shade before permanent cementation.
Final cementation
The finished crown or bridge is cemented into place at your final visit.
What should I expect afterward?
There is minimal downtime. Some sensitivity around the prepared tooth or teeth is normal for a few days, and it is worth being mindful of very hard or sticky foods on a new crown or bridge in the first while.

A filling repairs a smaller area of decay directly within the tooth. A crown fully covers a tooth that is too damaged, cracked, or weakened for a filling to hold, restoring its shape and strength with a custom-fitted cap.
