Dentures in Mississauga

Sauga Smiles Dental fits full, partial and implant-supported dentures for patients in Mississauga who are missing some or all of their teeth. Dr. Rohit Khurana or Dr. Aanchal Khurana builds each denture to your bite rather than a generic mold, which affects how well it works when you eat and speak. Our clinic is on Burnhamthorpe Road West, and we are CDCP-approved.

What Are Dentures?

Dentures are removable replacement teeth. A full denture replaces every tooth in an upper or lower arch. A partial denture fills the gaps left by missing teeth and clasps onto your remaining natural teeth with metal or acrylic clasps. An implant-supported denture anchors to titanium implants in the jaw for a more secure fit than a removable denture resting on the gums alone.

Who Needs Dentures?

  • Patients missing all their teeth in an arch are candidates for full dentures.
  • Patients with some healthy teeth left are usually better suited to a partial denture, which clasps onto them rather than replacing them unnecessarily.
  • Patients who want a more stable fit and have enough jawbone may be candidates for implant-supported dentures instead of, or as well as, a removable option.

Benefits of Well-Fitted Dentures

  • Restore your ability to chew and speak more comfortably
  • Support your lips and cheeks, which can change when teeth are missing
  • Give you a complete smile
  • A custom fit reduces sore spots and slipping
  • Implant-supported options add stability

How the Denture Process Works

  1. Consultation and impressions. The dentist examines your gums and remaining teeth, then takes impressions to build a denture shaped to your mouth.
  2. Fitting and adjustment. The denture is tried in and adjusted for bite and comfort before it is finalized, since a denture that does not sit right causes sore spots.
  3. Delivery. You leave with the finished denture and guidance on wearing it in gradually.
  4. Follow-up adjustments. Gums and jawbone shift slightly over the following weeks, so a follow-up visit lets the dentist fine-tune the fit.

Before Your Visit

  • Bring a list of your medications and any health conditions.
  • Tell us what bothers you now, such as difficulty eating, loose teeth or sore gums.
  • If you already wear dentures, bring them so the dentist can check the fit.
  • Ask about the timeline, since some teeth may need to be removed first.
  • Bring your insurance or CDCP details so we can verify coverage.

After Your Treatment

  • Most new denture wearers need from a few days to several weeks to adjust to speaking and eating.
  • Start with softer foods and practise reading aloud to speed up adjustment.
  • Rinse with warm salt water if you have minor gum irritation.
  • Rinse dentures after eating, brush them daily with a denture brush and mild soap rather than regular toothpaste, and soak them overnight in water or a denture solution.
  • Attend your follow-up visit for adjustments.
  • Call the clinic if you have a sore spot that does not settle, swelling, fever or bleeding.

Frequently Asked Questions

A full denture replaces every tooth in an upper or lower arch. A partial denture fills gaps and clasps onto your remaining natural teeth, so it is only used when some healthy teeth remain.

Rinse after eating, brush daily with a denture brush and mild soap, and soak overnight in water or denture solution so they do not dry out.

They generally give a more secure, stable fit than a removable denture resting on the gums. Whether they suit you depends on your jawbone and overall health, which Dr. Rohit Khurana can assess at a consultation.

Most patients need a few days to several weeks to speak and chew normally. Softer foods at first and practising speaking help.

The CDCP includes prosthodontic treatment, but the amount depends on your plan. We can help verify your eligibility.

Possibly. A partial denture is designed for exactly that situation. Your dentist will advise after an exam.

Yes. Gums and bone change slightly in the weeks after, so a follow-up visit allows adjustments.
